Fowl Road robbery suspects at large

ELYRIA TWP. — An hour-long manhunt Saturday night for three suspected robbers left Elyria police empty-handed.

The search started just before 9 p.m. at 1951 Fowl Road and ranged through several buildings in the Condor Garden Apartments.

A man who lives in the complex said three black men barged into his home and threatened his wife and small children.

“They came in with some guns. They took some money,” he said.

Nobody was hurt in the attack.

Two suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts and white gloves, one witness said.

Man pulls knife on Elyria store clerk

ELYRIA — A 60-year-old drugstore clerk told police she thought a masked man was joking Friday morning when he tried to pull a hold-up — at least until he put a knife against her throat.

The woman was counting cigarettes about 8 a.m. when Rite Aid, 142 Broad St., opened for business, an Elyria police report said. A few minutes later, she saw the robber with a red bandana over his face, the report said.

The man was white, in his early 20s and stood about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, she told police. He had thin hair and was wearing a gray hooded jacket, she said.

Sheffield brawl carries over to bar

ELYRIA — Brawls that broke out after a fight night Friday at a Sheffield restaurant spilled over to an Elyria bar, police said.

Swarming patrons pummeled each other a few minutes after the end of a Superior Cage Fighting exhibition at Quaker Steak & Lube.

Police from Sheffield, Elyria, Lorain and Avon were called to put down the riot.

A large crowd — including many people police said they recognized from the Quaker Steak riot — ended up about
2 a.m. Saturday at Stubby’s bar on Abbe Road, where officers had to break up another disturbance.

Police found broken glass and fights in the Stubby’s parking lot, the report said. They charged Joseph Charley, 31, of Elyria, with intimidation, aggravated riot and disorderly conduct.

Jesse Whitlock, 30, of Las Vegas, was charged with possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct. Jimmy Serrano, 22, of Lorain, was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Charley slipped away from police while they were trying to get the Stubby’s crowd under control but later turned himself in at the Elyria police station, the report said.

While he was being booked at the city jail, Charley allegedly threatened a police officer, telling him to take off his badge and gun “and we will handle this,” the report said.

Boys arrested for attack on cyclist

LORAIN — Two boys ages 14 and 17 were arrested late Friday after allegedly assaulting a 30-year-old man while trying to steal his bicycle.

Lorain police said they found the man bleeding from a gash on the back of his head at 11:22 p.m. on the 2000 block of Crehore Street.

The man told police one of the boys hit him in the head with a rock while about five others pushed him down, punched and kicked at him.

The victim ran up to two houses and yelled for help, and the teens chased him, a police report said.

He identified two of the attackers, who were cited for robbery and taken to the county detention home, the report said.

A woman who lives on Crehore Street told police she saw the boys assault the bicyclist and throw rocks at him — also punching holes in her siding. One of the boys told her to get back in the house or he would shoot her, the report said.

Longfellow student flashes classmates

LORAIN — A 12-year-old boy was cited with public indecency late last month after showing his privates to two teen girls at Longfellow Middle School, a police report said.

The incident happened during lunch time April 30 when the boy threw chicken bones and French fries at a girl, the report said.

He was later given permission to use the bathroom and called out to the two girls, police said. When the girls looked, the boy was hiding behind a restroom wall but his penis was sticking out of the doorway pointing at them, the report said.
