ALERT: Steer clear of Route 57 northbound

A word of caution: State Route 57 northbound is a mess.

If at all possible, use alternate routes. Nearly all the orange barrels have been erected between Chestnut Ridge Road and Cleveland Street, narrowing it to a single lane of traffic so the road can be rehabbed. And to add to the fracas, there have been several accidents, most of which have been cleared away.

The barrels have not been placed in the southbound lanes, so there remain two lanes of travel – for now.

And so begins 18 long months …
