Award
Van Amburgh
Dr. Michael Van Amburgh
Congratulations to Dr. Michael Van Amburgh, professor at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York for recently receiving the Professor of Merit Award.
This award recognizes excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising. Every year since 1947 the senior class of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has had the privilege of selecting a Professor of Merit. This award is considered very prestigious by the faculty because it is awarded by the students.
The students say Mike is a tremendous professor because as a teacher, he has always been outstanding with his lectures, challenging them to look deeper into subjects and always keeping in mind their relationship with the rest of the world. He has a great sense of humor to keep the classroom atmosphere enjoyable and make learning fun. It’s easy to see he likes his students and loves to teach.
Mike and his wife Elisa have two daughters, Emma and Anna. They live in King Ferry, New York.
His parents, Ron and Joyce Van Amburgh of Grafton, his siblings, Barbara Farrar and her family, and Dan Van Amburgh and his family, all congratulate him on receiving this award.
