The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Sullivan A. Burnsworth Sr.

Sullivan A. “Bus” Burnsworth Sr., 81, of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, at his home, following a long illness. He was born in McClellandtown, Pa., and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 53 years, moving from Elyria.

Mr. Burnsworth served in the Army during WWII. He worked for the Ford Motor Casting Plant in Brook Park for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Sullivan was a former member of First Baptist Church, now known as Sugar Ridge Baptist, North Ridgeville, and U.A.W. Local 1250. He enjoyed the great outdoors,  gardening and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha “Betty” M. (nee Triplett); sons, Sullivan (Joan) A. Jr. of Elyria, Dennis (Wanda) of Elyria, Jason S. of Sheffield Lake; daughters, Debra (Charles) Littleton of Rittman, Judi Bentley of North Ridgeville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alvena Geelen of Uniontown, Pa.

He was preceded in death by parents, Milton and Hattie Burnsworth; granddaughter, Tonya P. Burnsworth; brothers, Brack and Emerson Burnsworth; and sisters, Virginia Skala, Wilda Crackovich and Myrtle Taras.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be noon Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the funeral home. The Rev. Mike Manosky, pastor of Sugar Ridge Baptist, will officiate.
