Murry Lucas Sr., 79, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Community Health Partners in Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born on February 17, 1929, in Beulah, Miss., to the union of Ike and Millie Lucas.

Murry moved to Lorain in 1964 and was employed at the former American Ship Building Company of Lorain for 20 years. He enjoyed baseball and spending time with his family.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 33 years, Irma L. Lucas (Harris) of Lorain; 10 children, Murry Lucas Jr., Wade Harris, Sylvester Harris, Muriel Harris, Victor Harris, Norma Harris, Jessie Harris, Barbara Charley, Tony Harris, and Beverly Lucas; sister, Erie Willis, all of Lorain; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Murry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ike and Millie Lucas Sr.; brothers, Tommie Lacy, Jessie Lacy, Ike Lucas Jr., Walter Lucas; sisters, Izola Powell and Ida Willis.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1516 E. 30th St., Lorain, where the Rev. Donald Young is pastor. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Joseph McDaniel of Fairfield Christian Center, Lorain. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
