Woman convicted of shooting estranged husband gets 13 years

ELYRIA —An Avon woman convicted of trying to murder her estranged husband while he slept was sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday in county Common Pleas Court.

Pamela Carrasquillo, 53, was convicted in March on charges stemming from the January 2007 shooting of her Herminio Carrasquillo.

County Common Pleas Judge James Burge sentenced her to the maximum sentence after listening to Herminio Carrasquillo speak out against his estranged wife.

She was convicted of attempted aggravated murder and attempted murder, as well as specifications that she used a gun in the crimes.
