Browns to release results of Bentley’s physical today
Browns offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley underwent a team physical Monday, the day before mandatory minicamp, but the Browns won’t release the results until this morning. General manager Phil Savage is scheduled to meet with reporters at 10 a.m. as practice gets under way.
Bentley, a Cleveland native who went to St. Ignatius and Ohio State, signed with the Browns as a free agent in 2006 and was the highest-paid center in the NFL with a six-year, $36 million deal. He tore his patellar tendon on the first contact play of training camp and has never played a down with the Browns.
He suffered a staph infection following his knee surgery and underwent multiple surgeries to repair the damage. He tried to come back last year but was never deemed healthy enough to practice.
Savage signed interior linemen Rex Hadnot, Seth McKinney and Lennie Friedman in the offseason, so the team’s protected if Bentley doesn’t return.
The Browns will practice twice today, twice Wednesday and once Thursday before going on vacation until training camp in July.
