Predator indicted in case of child pandering

ELYRIA — An Elyria sexual predator accused of asking two young girls to expose themselves has been indicted.

Kelly Snodgrass, 38, is charged with two counts each of attempted pandering obscenity involving a minor, attempted illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and criminal child enticement.

Snodgrass — who served 12 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a woman at the College of Wooster — is being held in the county jail on a $1 million bond.

Police say Snodgrass pulled up next to a 9-year-old girl in Eastern Heights on May 28 and offered her $20 to pull down her pants.

The girl said no and immediately told a parent about the 3:30 p.m. encounter.

About two hours later, Snodgrass allegedly made the same offer to a 9-year-old girl in the toy department at Wal-Mart.

That girl also said no and ran to a nearby Wal-Mart employee. That girl’s parents didn’t report the incident to police until learning about the first girl.

Police were able to identify Snodgrass from Wal-Mart security cameras after showing the videos to probation officers.

The vehicle Snodgrass allegedly used in the encounter in Eastern Heights was traced to his place of employment.

Snodgrass could be sentenced up to 22 years in prison if convicted of all the charges against him.
