McCain to visit southern Ohio
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has given John McCain a welcome, of sorts, in southern Ohio.
The Democratic governor led a rally in Portsmouth Wednesday morning for his party’s presidential candidate, Barack Obama. The governor and other Obama supporters gathered outside a union hall directly across from the high school where Republican McCain planned to hold a town hall meeting in the afternoon.
Strickland said voters should support McCain if they want more war and an economy that benefits the “super-rich” while the middle class falls further behind.
McCain’s campaign appearance will be his first in the state since he hosted town halls and fundraisers in Cincinnati and Youngstown less than two weeks ago.
Portsmouth is 85 miles south of Columbus.
