The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Arthur E. Bigrigg, 78, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Center Ridge Nursing Home, North Ridgeville, following a long illness. Arthur was born in California, Pennsylvania, on February 4, 1930. He was the son of the late, Arthur D. Bigrigg and Viola Garrison. He was a 1947 graduate of Centerville High School in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Bigrigg served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1947 to 1950. He retired after 24 years of service as a foreman, from the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company, Avon Lake in 1981. Art enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, cooking, camping and sports. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Bigrigg attended the Elyria Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (nee Westfall) of Elyria; sons, John "Jack" D. of California, Michael of Medina, and Marc of the U.S. Virgin Islands; daughter, Darlene Cedeno of California; sisters, Delores Widok of Amherst and Beverly Yuhas of Florida; brother, Charles "Chuck" of Columbus; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur Bigrigg Jr. in 1951.
Family will receive friends at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst on Monday, July 14, 2008 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 10 A.M. at the funeral home, with Pastor George Gribbons of Elyria Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Military rites will be conducted by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
