TWINSBURG, Ohio (AP) — Twinsburg Police Chief Chris Noga says his department is mourning the loss of an “all-around great officer” killed early Sunday.

Thirty-three-year-old Joshua Miktarian is the first officer to die in the line of duty in the 56-year history of the suburban Cleveland police force.

A makeshift memorial including photos of Miktarian, potted plants and American flags has sprouted outside Twinsburg City Hall , which includes the police department. Officers’ wives plan to hold a candlelight vigil there Monday night.

Police say Miktarian was shot during a traffic stop at a little after 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The Cuyahoga County coroner says he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

A man arrested shortly after the shooting has not yet been charged.
