The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Maude Thomas

Maude Thomas (nee Bryant), 82, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. John West Shore Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1941 in Dozier, Alabama and had resided in Lorain since 1967. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lorain where she served as a missionary and church nurse. She worked for the Nord Center, retiring in 1991. She did private duty nursing and also worked feeding senior citizens. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed being a caregiver, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lydia Wright of North Olmsted; step-daughter, Gloria Perry of Alabama; sons, Walter Stephon Thomas and Derrick Thomas, both of Lorain; step-son, Walter Charles Perry of Alabama; sisters, Ann Springer of Lorain, Deborah Hamilton of  New York and Alice Douglas of Georgia; step-sister, Mary N. Mitchell of Alabama; brothers, James Burnell Bryant of Georgia, Clifford Bryant and James Edward Bryant, both of Lorain; step-brother, Rev. Marcus L. Daniels of Alabama; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thomas in 1998; parents, J. B. and Lovell (nee Crowell) Bryant; and brother, Willie J. Bryant.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 12 Noon at Second Baptist Church, 300 West 13th St., Lorain. The Rev. Loversier Lewis, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
