Funeral, procession today for slain Ohio officer

TWINSBURG, Ohio  — Members of the public he served have been encouraged to line the funeral procession route for a fallen police officer in suburban Cleveland.

Joshua Miktarian is the first member of the Twinsburg police department killed in the line of duty. Friday morning’s procession will lead to the funeral for the 33-year-old officer at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in nearby Oakwood.

Police say Miktarian was shot in the head four times during a traffic stop early Sunday. Twenty-three-year-old suspect Ashford Thompson is charged with aggravated murder and is being held on $5 million bond.
