Inmate found dead at southeast Ohio jail

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) — An inmate being held at Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on an abduction charge has been found dead in a jail restroom in an apparent suicide.

Lt. James Eddy says 18-year-old Johan Londono of Cleveland Heights was found early Saturday.

Eddy says it appeared that Londono hung himself.

Londono was charged with using a handgun to abduct a 23-year-old woman in Athens on Aug. 5. Police say the woman was struck in the face and released when her abductor was scared off by an approaching person.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and Nelsonville police are investigating the death.

Eddy says no prisoner has died at the jail since it opened in 1998.
