BREAKING NEWS — Lorain law director charged with DUI in Lakewood
LORAIN —Lorain Law Director Mark Provenza was picked up on a drunk driving charge early Wednesday morning in Lakewood.
Lakewood police received a call around 2:30 a.m. after Provenza allegedly rammed his car into the front porch of a home along the 2200 block of Bunts Road, and then fled from the scene in his vehicle.
Police caught up to him a couple miles later and charged a visibly bloodied Provenza with DUI, as well as fleeing the scene of a accident and not wearing a seatbelt.
He was taken to a nearby hospital for minor head injuries and later booked in the Lakewood City Jail, where he remained through Wednesday afternoon.
This isn’t the first time Provenza has faced drunk driving charges. He was convicted of DUI in Lakewood once before after he was arrested in 2001 after striking a fire hydrant. He has also faced additional DUI charges over the years.
