Lawrence "Larry" A. Rosebeck, 87, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, following a brief illness. He was born February 19, 1921 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Larry moved to Amherst in 1959 where he had made his home for the last 49 years.
Larry enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed as a millright at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 21 years before retiring in 1989. Larry previously owned and operated his own service station and auto sales in Amherst. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. Larry was a member of the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1442. He enjoyed bowling at Lake Erie Lanes and the former Broadway Lanes in Lorain.
Survivors include his sons Larry "Buzz" Jr., and wife, Carol Rosebeck of Wakeman, Phillip "Rusty", and wife, Pat Rosebeck of Amherst; daughters, Vicki and husband, Lou Polites of Upland, California, Shanna Cyran of Amherst; step-son, John and wife, Shelly McCoy of Chillicothe; step-daughters, Jeanette and husband, Luke McCoy and Jackie Kuk, both of Chillicothe; daughter-in-law, Jill Reott Rosebeck, the wife of the late Richard A. Rosebeck of Lorain; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Louise Rosebeck (nee Timmons) in 1949; second wife, Barbara Agnes Rosebeck (nee Knoske) in 1993; and third wife, Irene Rosebeck (nee Cottrill) in 2007; son, Richard Rosebeck in 1999; brother, Al Rosebeck; sister, Mary Rosebeck; and parents, Phillip Bert and Florence Irene Rosebeck (nee Heller).
Friends may call Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10 A.M. from the funeral home. The Rev. Terrance Adamson, Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
