If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to take some laps in a race car around Lorain County Speedway, tonight you’ll be able to find out.
“Ride In A Race Car Night” will give young fans the opportunity to see the 3/8ths-mile track from the drivers’ point of view. The event, which was popular last season, will take place at intermission. Drivers from each division will volunteer their cars to give fans the ultimate racetrack experience.
The Street Stocks will be featured tonight as they run a feature paying $250 to the winner. The E-Mods, Limited Late Models, Chargers and Road Course Warriors will round out the card.
Gates open at 3 p.m. with qualifying at 5 and racing at 7. Admission is $10, $5 ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger. Call (440) 986-7223.
A change will be made in the E-Mod division procedures next week. The feature winner will start last in the inversion based on a draw by the winning driver. This is being done at the request of the drivers and LCS.
Also coming up next week will be the rescheduled “Tough Truck Pull.” The winner will receive $250. Registration is free, call Jeff Fade at (440) 487-6345.
The Labor Day race scheduled for Monday, Sept. 1, has been canceled.

Master-ful switch

Elyria’s Brian Masters will replace his brother Bob in the No. 56 Ford Probe in the Charger division for the remainder of the season at LCS. Brian damaged his own No. 117 race car earlier this season and never brought it back out.
Brian looked comfortable in his debut in the No. 56 (which he plans to renumber with a 117) last week. After winning a heat, he drove to  second place in the feature.
