BACK TO SCHOOL: Freshmen receive mentors in North Ridgeville High School

Incoming freshmen to North Ridgeville High School were treated to an expanded orientation program, according to Tissy Symon, spokeswoman for the North Ridgeville City Schools.

Incoming freshmen rotated between five different sessions during the three-hour orientation that saw upper classmen acting as mentors for new students, a process the district looks to continue during the school year. Another goal of the mentoring is to support first-year high schoolers so they make it all the way through the year.

“In the past, students would show up with parents and get a brief overview of the school,” said Symon. “These sessions were designed to make them feel part of the school.”
