Browns safety to have knee surgery, expected to miss a month
Jones is expected to miss at least a month. The Oct. 13 Monday night game against the Giants, which follows a bye week, would be the targeted return date if everything goes well.
The injury is a further blow to a defense that allowed 28 points and 487 yards Sunday in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Jones, who’s in the last year of his contract, originally experienced swelling in the right knee after the preseason opener Aug. 7. He missed the final two preseason games, but returned for the regular-season opener. The knee swelled again.
Mike Adams will take Jones’ place in the starting lineup. Brodney Pool, who’s been out with a concussion since Aug. 18, is expected to return Sunday night versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
