Although the number is down from the 23,000 customers that were without power Sunday night, some will remain without electricity well into the weekend.
“The damage was so widespread,” Durbin said. “There are many different locations that we’re still trying to get to.”
With restoration efforts continuing over the next several days, water and ice will be distributed to affected Ohio Edison and First Energy customers free of charge at participating Giant Eagle and Buehler’s stores.
“It’s a way for us to minimize the inconvenience a little bit and to let our customers known that we’re thinking about them.”
