The Indians announced their ticket prices for 2009, offering fans what they are terming a
“value-based” ticket-pricing structure.
The concept is that not all of the 81 dates at Progressive Field are of equal value, so prices will reflect as much, with an April game against the Royals costing less than one against the Yankees or Red Sox.
Tickets for the home-opening series against Toronto (April 10-12) will go on sale Nov. 28.
Leaving a mark
Travis Hafner was hit by a pitch in the second inning Friday, bringing the Indians’ total of hit batters to 93, which increases the franchise record and sets an American League mark.
Toronto held the old record, setting it in 1992 and ’96. The major league record is 100, set in 1997 by Houston.
Ryan Garko owned the team lead, getting plunked 14 times.
Roundin’ third
The Indians entered Friday ranked fifth in the majors in batting average (.280), third in runs (320) and first in OPS (.817) since the All-Star break.
• Victor Martinez entered Friday batting .265 (13-for-49) with a homer and 11 RBIs in 14 games since being activated from the disabled list. Hafner was at .200 (5-for-20) with a homer and an RBI in five games since leaving the injured list.
