Electrical power cuts power to Lorain hospital

LORAIN Community Regional Medical Center on Kolbe Road went on emergency power shortly after 6 p.m. today but no patient care was expected to be affected, a hospital spokeswoman said.

“All patient areas are fully operational on backup power,” said hospital spokeswoman Jennifer Kennedy.

She said the back-up power kicked in automatically after an electrical problem surfaced, possibly with a transformer.

Kennedy said she did not expect an evacuation.

“The fire department is currently evaluating the situation,” she said.
