Robert Lee "Bob" Garner, 81, of Elyria, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at Lorain Community Health Partners Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Tecumseh, Alabama coming to the Wellington, Oberlin and Elyria areas 48 years ago.

He was employed as a laborer for Shopping Center Maintenance Company of Elyria, retiring after 40 years of service. Mr. Garner enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening and watching wrestling with his boys.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanya Garner of Elyria; sons, Lamar Garner of Lorain and Daryl Garner of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Alene Davis and Mary E. Brown, both of California; and a host of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grayce Garner; son, Clyde Garner; parents, Daniel and Luci Garner; sisters, Catherine Graham, Jennie Brown, Maybell Pinkney, Irene Hines; brothers, Richard Garner, James Garner; and grandson, Daryl "D.J." Garner, Jr.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 5 P.M. until time of service at 6 P.M. in the Carter Funeral Homes Chapel, 127 W. Bridge St., Elyria. Elder Jessie Matthews will officiate.
