Again, we have to watch parents bury a child because of kids thinking they are invincible. My heart breaks for the families of these 2 teens.
TMC News is reporting that neighbors on that road have called police out before because of this car/drive racing down their road. Thank GOD others were not injured or killed.
My daughters friend goes to school with these 2 boys and its so sad that we know before even their own parents.

Crazy that this happened. I was just talking to a co-worker two days prior to this happening about how this kid drove “like a bat out of hell”. I guess it was only a matter of time. Sad to see that he took someone else along with him.
This could have been avoided if a 16-17 year old teen was not in an SRT-4. Way too fast of a car for that age.
Still a tragic event none-the-less. Condolences to both families.

This accident occured a couple doors down from my home. In the 9 years I’ve lived on this road I’ve seen countless MIDVIEW TEENAGERS flying down this mile long stretch of road, racing, passing other traffic, acting like complete idoits. It was oly a matter of time before something like this happened, and I’m not in the least surprised Midview stydents were involved. Never in my life have I seen worse driving skills than those shown by Midview students. The lack of responsibility instilled in these kids is appaling, and accidents like this happen because of that. The families have my every sympathy, I know what it’s like to lose a young family member. But please, let this serve as a warning to anyone who has a child attending Midview. Take them aay from that horrible driving program, and TEACH them how to behave around vehicles, or this scene is going to be repeated over and over again.

Sadly good kids die when they make life threatening decisions. And most times, they take other lives with them. I feel so bad for the families, but thankfully this person did not take more lives. Its imperative that kids are not just thrown keys because they were around cars all their life. Even at 17, hes been driving, what a year? I sure hope what I have read here isnt true, about him showing off.

My sympathies to the two families and friends of these youth. UNBELIEVABLE!!! The video of the crash site on 19 action news is unreal. The speed must have been way in excess of 100. I have never seen a car split in two like that with the 2 ends so far apart. My GOD…kids and parents of kids let this be a wake up call. This should have NEVER happened, ecspecially since the police have been called in the past about the same car. Sickening!

Now is not the time to pass judgment. My heart is aching for these two families and for my daughter who lost two very good friends today.

My heart goes out to the school, family and friends effect by this.
But I do need to comment on a previous comment here and I apologize if it seems out of place.
Being a graduate of Midview and traveling that road for years and years to and from school, it is easy to go faster than 35 mph. The speeds that this student had to be traveling was not safe on any road. But to blame the schools driving program for turning us students into reckless drivers is horrible. I am positive they do not carry a driving course their now, much like they didn’t for me (which was only 5-6 years ago and probably more before that.) (And much like a large majority of high schools in the state and country.) The skills of “Midview” drivers is the skills that ALL students of this age (and some adults also) show. It’s a new experience and a new thrill for this age and we all speed at one point or another I bet. There are plenty of accidents that happen in the high schools much like this one and ones that are completely different from this one. So don’t point the finger at something because it makes this easier, though this situation is horrible in all forms, the only person to blame is the person who decide to travel at such high speeds. We as people make good and bad choices, he made this choice knowing what the possibilities could be the out come.
Again, my heart goes out to everyone involved, it is a horrible thing to have happen to any family, but sometimes the best reminders are the worst incidents. But don’t blame a place for giving them a certain skill that they must go and travel to larger areas around here to learn.

I heard that he was going 140… I can’t even imagine that speed on a back road.

I see one of the kids supposedly involved in the accident almost everyday in school. Although I did not personally know him nor kno him by name, if somone mentioned srt-4 i instantly knew who they were talking about. Like most Midview High School students, as soon as i walked out of the Kubuski Gym lobby into the parking lot a hint of jealousy reigned over me as i stared into the dark tinted windows of his car. Listening to the loud rumble of his car as it sped off seemed to arouse everyone on campus. He had a love for speed and even raced at drag strips, but unfortunately that wasn’t the only place he had a love for speed at. I love, and dare to be different but with this scenario I have to blend with the crowd in saying “I just can’t belive it” which soon after the accident became a cliche. You hope and pray it won’t be the last one you see but in today’s modern society you just don’t know.

Wow, again I must say that this kind of thing happened often 40 years ago in the roaring 1960’s and 1970’s with all the “souped up” race cars that Detroit was pumping out.
40 years ago a young punk had a decent job at the local grocery store and EARNED his bada$$ muscle car and drove it with some respect. Sure kids died then too, but this hogwash about kids driving these cars is ridiculous.
They can handle them if they know what they’re capable of. Obviously he knew how fast his car was but was WOEFULLY unprepared for unexpected events in his path.
Sadly these two kids died having fun. It has happened and will always happen.
At least they didn’t kill the mailman or some other motorists, then everyone would be stark raving mad!!!
