ELYRIA — A 51-year-old Amherst man delivering pizzas told police that a man used a knife to rob him early Sunday morning and steal his car.
The delivery man said he took two pizzas and two subs to the 800 block of Longson Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. and a man sitting on the porch took out a knife, held it to his throat and demanded money.
The man took $30, the food and drove off in the delivery man’s car, a white Volvo 740 GLE station wagon with a Domino’s sign on the roof, according to a police report.
A police officer checked the residence where the delivery occurred and determined it was an abandoned house.

This article prevented a crime tonight. I’m a pizza driver and the guy (and a girl) tried to pull the same trick on me tonight at the same house!
I called the police who drove to the house with me, when the guy saw the police he got up from the front step and took off running through some back yards.

GREAT insight Kevin. I heard the call come over the scanner. You thought the situation stunk to high heaven and called the police in. Way to go!!! Too bad they didn’t catch the scum bag. Same house??? Unbelievable. No one ever said crooks were smart! Then again, how often do the police show up with the pizza delivery guy??? lol

Great thinking! Its nice to see some young folks like you have the insight to think that their might be just something fishy and I am talking anchovies on the pizza.

I’m not 100% positive it was the same house, as I haven’t spoken to the Dominos driver yet, but it was certainly the same block.
And not only that, it was the same order (2 pizzas and 2 subs)
