ELYRIA – John McCain will attend a campaign rally Thursday at Lorain County Community College.

Helen Hurst, the chairwoman of the Lorain County Republican Party, said the event will be outdoors, but a final location at the college – which last hosted a major party’s presidential candidate in 2004 when Democrat John Kerry held an outdoor rally – has not been decided.

Hurst said she hopes the event will help convince undecided voters in Lorain County to side with McCain and help him win Ohio, a crucial battleground state in his bid to defeat Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

McCain will likely speak around 3 p.m. at the event, which is free and open to the public. She said organizers will ask people to begin arriving around 2 p.m.

Wow, I am surprised, especially since I just posted a comment about McCain probably not coming to Lorain County. I can only imagine what our regular Democrat posters will rail about, but I think the county should be glad whenever a major political candidate visits the area, and he or she should be treated with some level of respect even though many may vehemently disagree with a particular candidates positions. By the way, I am Tom Higgason in case anyone wonders or cares. I don’t need to hide behind some silly nom de guerre because I am embarrassed or afraid to let people know who I am. I speak my mind and stand behind what I say. My sign on THHiggie was a mistake because I didn’t really understand the system when I first logged on, and now I can’t figure out how to change it. Trying to carry o intelligent discussions with anonymous posters is a losing proposition.

The audience won’t be packed with Republicans?!

I’ll bet this one makes the national news, when McBush blows his top over the hecklers yelling out “LIAR!”

    Tom…

Being able to voice our opinion here anonymously is a much appreciated feature of this forum.

I do not have to fear reprisals from the plethera of nutjobs who read these postings and who vehemently disagree with my opinion. I have a family and business to protect.

To post your real name here in my opinion is a mistake.

For it is now public knowledge where you live, what your birthdate is, your wifes name and a whole slew of information that is available online…there’s even access to your signature…OMFG.

I must commend you on your driving record though.

You served in the Navy as a LCDR on the USS Ainsworth(parata pugnare), your AOL e-mail is or was the same as your screen name here only with AOL on the end…lol, You’ve lived in VA and CA.

By the way, there was a Thomas H. Higgason who lived in Tennesee was a soldier in the Civil War in the 18th Infantry, owned 4 slaves and 212 acres of land.

I’m not advocating that anyone ever do anything against posters here for any reason. We are all entitled to our opinions and should be able to do so without fear of reprisal.

But to claim to want to have an intelligent conversation after placing your full name for everyone to see is contradictory to what you’re trying to accomplish here.

I know you’re gonna spew the “standard tough guy” I dare someone…blah blah blah, but is it worth it?

I may be wrong, but I seriously doubt I’ll see the real names of others who post here…They made it anonymous for a reason.

    You make my point exactly.

Tom I give you a lot of credit. Nice to meet you! I hope you don’t have any repercussions for putting it out there. Good luck!
