Elyria trick-or-treaters come out tonight

From 6 to 7:30 tonight, trick-or-treaters will be traipsing around Elyria.

For tonight’s event, plus many others that will take place in other communities on Friday night, Lorain County Sheriff Phil Stammitti urges parents to be cautious.

Children should not be allowed to trick-or-treat alone, he said, and children should be told not to go into anyone’s home and to visit only well-lit homes. He also suggested parents make themselves aware of any sex offenders who live in their neighborhood.

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office will be out in full force Friday looking for speeders and seat belt violators as children enjoy trick-or-treating.

With hundreds of kids expected to partake in the event across the county, law enforcement cautions all drivers to be extra careful. The blitz will take place at targeted areas across the county.
