Quinn named Browns starting quarterback
BEREA — The Browns announced Monday afternoon that Brady Quinn will replace Derek Anderson as starting quarterback Thursday night when the Browns host the Denver Broncos.
Quinn, a first-round draft choice out of Notre Dame in 2007, has never started an NFL game. His only action came in the season finale last year when he went 3-for-8 for 45 yards.
Anderson went to the Pro Bowl last year after his first season as a full-time starter. He struggled through eight games this year — the Browns are 3-5 — completing 49.8 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions for a 68.9 rating.
He was 17-for-33 for 219 yards, two touchdowns, an interception and an 80.2 rating Sunday in a 37-27 loss to the Ravens. He had a fourth-quarter interception returned for a touchdown for the final scoring.
