The popular vote was close, but not the count in the Electoral College, where it counted.
There, Obama’s audacious decision to contest McCain in states that hadn’t gone Democratic in years paid rich dividends.
Fellow Democrats rode his coattails to gains in both houses of Congress, toppling Republican incumbents and winning open seats alike.
Obama has said his first order of presidential business will be to tackle the economy. He has also pledged to withdraw most

After reading some of the above comments…
Some people are right about not looking at a person and seeing the color of their skin and with Obama winning the election, it shows how far this country has come.
so I think it’s time we do away with everything that separates us as people such as affirmative action.
We don’t need it anymore. Everyone is truly equal now.

Sorry, but I don’t believe you when you say a VA’s Outpatient Woman’s Clinic doesn’t have any physicians available to examine patients.
It’s not like the first time I questioned what you put out there as “fact.”
(Report comment)
Well then I suggest you call them tomorrow and ask about it. The Nurse Practioners name Is Nancy Bradley-Myers. I know this because I do see her!!!!!!!!!!

Director, Center for Women Veterans
Irene-Trowel Harris, RN, Ed. D The Director of woman’s Service is nurse with a PhD in Education. Why would they bother with An OB/GYN
(Report comment)
This is your proof?
The director of the clinic is an RN, therefore you conclude, there are no medical doctors available to treat the patients?!
Where are you going to find a doctor willing to do the day to day administrative grunt work the director of a clinic is responsible for?!

Be sure to ask if they have a Board certified OB/GYN,

Thank God bush is easing the caps and regulations on the Clean Coal Power Plants. Obama was planning on regulating it to point that they would go broke before they could finish construction. No wonder WV did not support him. Bush easing will be hard for Obama to change.
Does anyone realize one Wind Mill produces 3 Mega Watts. Power plants generate at an average of 900 to 2000 mega watts. Where would we put all these Wind Mills? And what happens when there is no wind? Like today…As for Nuclear Power plants we will have depleted titanium by 2038.

Crystal…you’re having a banner day here…
This is from the Washington Post:
“The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would weaken government rules aimed at protecting consumers and the environment, before President Bush leaves office in January.
The new rules would be among the most controversial deregulatory steps of the Bush era and could be difficult for his successor to undo. Some would ease or lift constraints on private industry, including power plants, mines and farms.
Those and other regulations would help clear obstacles to some commercial ocean-fishing activities, ease controls on emissions of pollutants that contribute to global warming, relax drinking-water standards and lift a key restriction on mountaintop coal mining.”
Bush has deregulated things like standards for drinking water, and it’s ok with you? He lifted the restrictions on the wastewater that runs off mountain coal mines which pollutes water, kills fish and destroys the environment.
That’s ok with you?
After the windmills are paid for, the energy they produce will be “free” and the surface area of the propellors on the turbines allow for energy to be produced in very low wind levels.
Here’s another “intelligent” tidbit for you…
Titanium is the 9th most common ore on earth, not hardly going to be depleted in a thousand years and new technology is going to makes it easier to produce and cheaper.
Thanks for doing the research…

With the New President, do we get the the whole week off in January for MLK day? or MLK week….?
(Report comment)
DonTcare Only half a week silly. He is half black.
Raven you only did have your research but nice cut and paste. Why only half the article?
where are you going to put all these windmills?
Downtown?
You would need 300 hundred windmills to replace a 900 mega watt power plant. Major city power plants are 2000 mega watts you would need 666 windmills. I bet you think the windmill downtown generates enough power for the city…..

Our world is ever growing, and the way we respond to energy demands must grow along with it. By 2020, there will be an additional two billion people placing higher demands on electricity. Likewise, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are still in their infancy and, when used alone, are not realistic solutions to meet this demand.

Crystal,
Windmills alone aren’t the answer for obvious reasons you mentioned, such as days were ther is no wind.
But once fuel cell technology gets to where it should be, these wind mills can be placed in optimal locations in the country to produce hydrogen, which travels and stores much better than electricity.
I’ve even designed a simple windmill for the backyard. Granted, I’ll probably never actually build one, but it’s not really rocket science to generate electricity, produce hydrogen, then pump it into a standardized canister.
I’m looking forward to the day when you can make your own hydrogen and store it in the cellar like mom’s tomatoes.
These canisters can then be screwed into your television or refrigerator so that you won’t have to plug your appliances into the wall.
GE use to sell hydrogen home generating units to power entire homes. They would run on either pure hydrogen, or they could take propane and break it down to produce hydrogen.
They say the system didn’t work out, due to a lack of qualified technicians, but I think it was because the fuel cells, weren’t efficient and durable enough.
But if we don’t bother working on bettering the system with a “Manhattan Project” like effort, we might damage the planet as some very reliable scientists predict.
Hydrogen fuel is the future.
Once the fuel cells are highly efficient and long lasting, the world will be a different place, where someday windmills in shallow Lake Erie, will produce enough hydrogen to power the local population’s cars and appliances, while producing no green house gasses.

Are you dim witted or do you not know what a colon(punctuation) and quotation marks are for?
The colon is used when introducing speech or quotation and the quotation marks include the speech or quotation.
I attributed, as I always do, information derived from other sources, unlike yourself. I do not contend I have infinite knowledge. I do however have the tools before me to access a vast amount of information.
Your juvenile attempt to “call me out” has again, as always, made you look foolish.
Just for “kicks and giggles”, the largest windmills in production produce 5 MW…not 3. The largest made to date produces 7 MW.
Remember when hard drives on laptops were like 4 gig?
That was not long ago. Get the picture?

“Remember when hard drives on laptops were like 4 gig?”
Totally off topic here, but once upon a time I worked on really expensive computer systems that had a whopping 4 k of magnetic core memory, with an 8 MB hard drive that weighed about 250 pounds and had a permanent magnet that would rip your wristwatch off if you forgot to take it off before working on the thing.
So, yeah, things can get much better and more reliable if we put an effort into it.
We’re at a crossroads where we’re going to improve or parish.

yeah Raven I know what a colon is….It is the thing that tapers off the crap you keep spewing on this site.
Do you know how much space one blade on a wind mill takes up?

And so much for the Obama change…It sounds like we are getting the Clinton Administration back minus Bill. I wonder if Monaca is available….
