Quinn fractures finger on throwing hand; still will start

BEREA – Browns quarterback Brady Quinn suffered a small fracture on the tip of his right index finger Monday night in the 29-27 win over the Buffalo Bills, but will start his third straight game Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Quinn practiced Wednesday, the finger was sore and he had X-rays after practice. They revealed a small fracture, according to coach Romeo Crennel this morning in his news conference.

Quinn broke the finger when he hit a Bills player’s helmet on a follow-through in the first quarter. He said he bumped it again in the second quarter, but finished the game. He will wear a splint when he’s not practicing or playing.

“The (hand) specialist says he can practice and play,” Crennel said. “He’s looking forward to playing and helping this team win.”

Quinn is 1-1 as a starter.

“He gripped (the ball) pretty good yesterday,” Crennel said. “It didn’t seem to have a major impact.”
