Election news: It looks like there might be an upset in Elyria

Even though all the results aren’t in yet, it looks like Democrat Mary Siwierka not only will knock an incumbent out of an at-large seat on the Elyria City Council, but she might just be the top vote getter among the four in the primary.

With nearly 32 percent of the votes tallied, Siwierka was leading Victor Stewart, Michael Lotko, Thomas Callahan and Kevin Brubaker. At the moment, Brubaker looks to be the one in jeopardy. Of course, she’ll still and the other three Democrats will still have to face off with the top Republican vote-getters from today when the general election rolls around in November.

In other news:

A levy to support the Elyria Library is passing overwhelmingly with nearly 32 percent of the vote tallied.
