Keystone students form online tutorial

A group of Keystone High School business students produced the winning entry in a competition sponsored by the School Employees Lorain County Credit Union. Their presentation, “Make Money Matter,” is an online tutorial to teach young people about savings, loans, credit and the services provided by a credit union.

Team members Megan Shaw, James Gerken, Brian Spangler, William Spangler and Uriah Rice developed their product in business teacher Karen Sprague`s class. Their winning effort resulted in a $500 prize, and a $250 award for the school`s business program.

The competition, which was open to all Lorain County school students, had student teams developing a credit union product or service for teens. They were to produce a marketing program with an imaginary budget of $10,000. Teams submitted their business plans and then presented their ideas to a group of judges on May 6 at the credit union in Elyria.
