Wilson arrives at death house; asks for special meal

Convicted killer Daniel Wilson arrived at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility at 9:49 a.m. today, a little more than 24 hours before he is to be executed for the 1991 murder of Carol Lutz.

Wilson had been held on death row at the Ohio State Penitentiary while he waited for his legal appeals to run out. He is still awaiting word on whether the U.S. Supreme Court will spare him execution.

Andrea Carson, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, said Wilson has also placed his order for his special meal, which will be served to him later today in the holding facility at the state’s death house.

Wilson has asked for a well-done porterhouse steak with steak sauce, a large salad with French dressing, a baked potato with sour cream and bacon bits, corn on the cob with butter, two liters of Dr. Pepper with ice, strawberry cheesecake with real strawberries, a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos, a bottle of salsa, a bag of grapes, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls and a tea bag.

Wilson will be allowed to visit with family, friends, his spiritual advisor and his attorneys later today and again tomorrow before he is executed.

Wilson – who killed Lutz by locking her in the trunk of her car and lighting it on fire – is set to be executed at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
