LUCASVILLE – Daniel Wilson has run out of options and will be executed Wednesday for the 1991 murder of Carol Lutz.

Wilson’s final chance at a stay of execution was the U.S. Supreme Court, which rejected his 11th hour appeal this evening.

Vicki Werneke, an assistant federal public defender who was working on Wilson’s case, said there’s nothing left to be done to save Wilson’s life.

“There are no other forums,” she said.

Gov. Ted Strickland on Monday denied clemency for Wilson, who locked Lutz in the trunk of her car and set it ablaze.

Wilson was moved from the state’s death row at the Ohio State Penitentiary to the death house at the Southern Ohio Correction Facility this morning.

He was served his “special meal,” including a steak and ice cream, around 4 p.m., said Andrea Carson, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

She said Wilson was calm and cooperative with prison staff and will have visitors throughout the evening.

Wilson, 39, is scheduled to be executed at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

They’re taking out the garbage at 10 in the morning?

That’s early, and rough on the condemned.

I mean, you know how it is when you know you got to get up the next day and can’t sleep. Then right before it’s time to be put to death, you’re really sleepy.
