Huron girl’s condition upgraded to ‘good’
CLEVELAND — A 5-year-old Huron girl recovering from a car accident Thursday was upgraded to good condition Friday, according to a representative for MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Clara Davies, her mother, 24-year-old Huron resident Leigh Ann Ferguson, and a third passenger, Jason Ferguson, 32, of Vermilion, were all injured when the car driven by Leigh Ann Ferguson was broadsided by a delivery truck at the intersection of Oak Point Road and West Erie Avenue in Lorain.
The truck, owned by Valley Natural Gases in Elyria, was driven by 63-year-old Raymond Rhoades of LaGrange. Rhoades was not injured in the crash. His truck hit Ferguson’s rear driver’s side, where Clara was sitting in her car seat.
Lorain police have said Rhoades was not at fault, and Ferguson’s ability to see the truck coming was not impeded.
Mother and daughter were taken to a local hospital before being flown to MetroHealth, where Leigh Ann Ferguson was treated and released Thursday. Jason Ferguson was treated and released Thursday from Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
A message seeking information about possible charges in connection with the accident was left with the traffic division but was not returned by press time Friday night.
