Blotter bite
A group of seven heavy metal bands won’t be invited back to Wellington Village Hall gymnasium following a rowdy incident on May 29, said Wellington Police Chief Steve Rollins.
The organizer had arranged for the bands to play until 11 p.m. and a crowd of about 100 people balked at paying extra to stay longer in the gym, which is rented out to various groups.
“They started screaming and hollering and making idle threats,” Rollins said.
His two police officers on duty called for backup from the Lorain County Sheriff Department, but canceled the request for help after police got everything in control. No one was arrested.
It was probably the most excitement the gym — the retrofitted historic opera house — has seen in many years.
