Parade today for EHS girls softball team

ELYRIA — A magical season will end with a victory parade in downtown Elyria today for the Elyria High School girls softball team.

The parade will include a police escort, followed by the EHS drumline and the team coasting by adoring fans on the Lorain County Transit trolley.

The Elyria school board and Superintendent Paul Rigda will recognize the team with awards, Mayor Bill Grace will read a proclamation, and commendations will be coming from state Sen. Sue Morano, D-Lorain, state Rep. Matt Lundy, D-Elyria, state Rep. Joseph Koziura, D-Lorain, and the county commissioners.

The softball team, which ended its season 29-3, broke a frustrating string of 28 scoreless state-final innings to beat the Hudson High School Explorers, 10-1, for the school’s second softball state championship.
