Summer program for Lorain County kids

LORAIN — Lorain County Community Action Agency, in collaboration with the Lorain’s Parks and Recreation Department, on Monday will begin holding registration for Summer at Central Park Pool Pass Youth Program.

The program for youths age 9 to 19 focuses on character development and swimming fun. There will be 325 children accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The six-week program will run noon to 5 p.m. July 6 to Aug. 14.

Participants must be registered by a parent.

Registration times are Monday 9 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Parents must bring proof of 2009 participation in any of the following programs in 2009: food assistance through Lorain County Department of Job and Family Services, Head Start/Early Head Start, Early Learning Initiative, Home Energy Assistance Program (including Percent of Income Payment Plan), Health Start/State Children’s Health Insurance, Ohio Works First and any program offered under temporary assistance to needy families through LCDJFS.
