‘Iron Chef’ opens his new venture in Avon Lake

AVON LAKE — Cleveland’s most famous chef will open his newest restaurant in Avon Lake today.

Bar Symon will open its doors at 4 p.m. at the site of the old Swingos Grand Tavern, 32858 Walker Road, inside Avon Lake Towne Center.

The restaurant is the latest for Michael Symon, Food Network’s newest “Iron Chef” and the proprietor of upscale restaurants Lola in Downtown Cleveland and Lolita in the Tremont neighborhood.

The food ranges from double-cooked chicken wings for 75 cents each to grilled walleye and trout for $17, but most of the menu items hover around $10.

The menu, which can be found at www.barsymon.com, also has a section devoted entirely to smoked sausage, with five unique choices from basic pork kielbasa to the more exotic spicy lamb and mint.

Each day of the week will also feature a roasted meat of some kind, from a pig roast on Mondays to spit-roasted prime rib on Fridays.
