SHEFFIELD LAKE — Two 18-year-old Elyria men are accused of setting a fire that burned a Ferndale Park concession stand to the ground in May.
Justin Scealf and Christopher Hamrick were each charged with fourth-degree felony arson Tuesday.
“We didn’t have many leads, but then we received a few tips that the persons involved were these men,” Sheffield Lake police Capt. Tony Campo said.
Firefighters were called to extinguish the concession stand fire about 5:30 a.m. May 31. Campo said both Scealf and Hamrick have not been cooperating with police.
“They’re not the most cooperative,” he said. “I think this was just some stupid act that resulted from too much boredom, and maybe too much fun beforehand. There’s some indication that they had left a party before the fire.”

They’re old enough to know better. If they did this I hope they get the book thrown at them. They obviously bragged about it since a tip did them in. Idiots!

i personally know these guys. and i know that they didnt do what they are being accused of. but i know who did it. and i will surely be working with the lawyers and getting these two guys out and the right person in.
its a messed up system when the person that starts a fire can go to police and give names of “friends” so that they are let off the hook. and really, the police wanted to hear justin’s name. they were always looking for a reason to take him down.
these two guys are good guys. they have made bad decisions.. but let me ask the older generation this: When you were young, how many stupid rash decisions did you make or your friends make that you went along with, that you could hav or did get into a whole load of trouble for? if you got in trouble.. didnt you just wish someone would give you a chance?
the kid who really did all of this should not be let off the hook. and he ran out to tell all his little friends how much of a bad*** he was for setting a building on fire. he was proud of it. At least, until he got in trouble.
