LORAIN – Goodwill Industries of Lorain County – which has held job fairs assisting about 2,000 people – has set another fair for Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the agency’s office at 1600 Broadway.
The job fair is free and open to all job seekers, and a light lunch will be served to all participants, according to Sherwin Goldberg, a case manager/job developer for the agency.
This job fair will have at least eight employers, Goldberg said. Earlier job fairs sponsored by Goodwill Industries featured at least a dozen companies that were hiring.
The following companies or governmental entities will be attending Wednesday’s job fair to seek potential hires: Lowe’s Stores of Lorain County; Bubba’s Q; C&K Industrial Services; TeleTech; Avon Products; Prime America; U.S. Census Bureau and LRC and Associates.
There is also the possibility of more employers being added to the list, but this is a particularly difficult time for companies, who still are not doing much hiring, according to Goldberg.
About 500 turned out for the first job fair in April 2008, 600 to 700 for the job fair last October and about 800 job-seekers participated in the job fair earlier this spring, Goldberg said.
He estimated that 150 to 250 people landed jobs as a result.
At 8:30 a.m. on Mondays, Goodwill continues to hold its Power of Work Job Club, which teaches such essential job-hunting skills as resume writing, filling out job applications and effective interviewing techniques.
