Haunted Forest

Looking for some spooky fun this Halloween weekend? Check out the Wells Family Foundation’s Haunted Forest from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. today and Saturday and again from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday at 16951 Mennell Road, Grafton. Everlasting Moments

The Lorain County Community College Fall-Winter Film Series movie this weekend is the 2009 Swedish drama “Everlasting Moments.” The film centers on Maria, a young working-class woman who experiences an artistic awakening after she is introduced to the world of photography. Based on real events, her story begins in Sweden in the early 1900s during a time of social change and unrest, war and poverty. After winning a camera in a lottery, Maria begins to see the world around her in a whole new way. But her newfound freedom and enlightenment is threatened by a boozing, womanizing husband who feels threatened by his wife’s new life.

“Everlasting Moments” will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Stocker Arts Center. Admission is $5 with a $3 membership in the LCCC Film Society. Tickets are available at the door or the Stocker box office at (440) 366-4040 or (800) 995-5222, ext. 4040. To learn more about the film series, call (800) 995-5222, ext. 4140 or (440) 366-4140.

One last terror in the field

Take a trip through an eerie maze cut out of a cornfield during the final weekend of “Terror in the Field” at Novotny’s Farm Market on state Route 60 in Vermilion. Demons and other creatures of the night begin to roam the field at dusk and hang around until 11 p.m. Sponsored by The Friends of Harbourtown Haunted School, the outdoor attraction is a half-mile trail. Anyone planning to do the walk should wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Located across from Friendship Gas Station, the maze asks a $10 donation from adults and $5 from kids under 48 inches in height. “Terror in the Field” operates tonight and Saturday but is closed Sunday. Call (440) 654-8847 for more.

Halloween Fair

Families can enjoy a gently haunted but colorfully decorated trail, or rides on a small-scale train on this last weekend of the Halloween Fair at Carlisle Visitor Center, 12882 Diagonal Road, LaGrange. This annual free event operates for the last times from 5-10 p.m. tonight and Saturday. Live music, magic and other entertainment add to the fun, which includes a number of “spooky” sites along the trail. Families with young kids may enjoy the trail before dark or just skip stops that may be too scary or intense. Halloween-themed activities, games and treats from vendors are also available for a small fee. For more, call (440) 458-5121 or (800) LCM-PARK or visit www.loraincountymetroparks.com.
