Homeless man is found dead in Elyria

ELYRIA — A homeless man was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a makeshift shelter behind Kaminski Roofing.
The man, identified to police as James Bennett, 62, had been dead for more than 24 hours when he was found in an old cargo truck parked near the Hawthorne Street business where he had permission to stay.
People in the neighborhood who knew Bennett said he had emphysema and had been looking ill but had refused medical attention in the past.
Bennett had last been seen Sunday. Initial investigation did not find anything suspicious about his death. A cousin was notified.
