Avon Middle School teacher arrested
An Avon Middle School teacher is out of the classroom after being arrested by Cleveland Metroparks rangers, according to Principal Craig Koehler.
Anne Maiden, an art teacher at the school, faces charges of receiving stolen property, forgery and misuse of a credit card, Koehler said. He sent a letter home with students yesterday and was also letting parents know via e-mail.
The district has placed a substitute in her classroom and will continue to monitor the situation, Koehler said.
A media relations person from the Metroparks rangers office confirmed Maiden had been arrested and said charges were pending in Cuyahoga County grand jury but said she could not access the police report or provide any further information because offices are closed for the holiday. She said initial charges were theft and forgery but it is possible more charges were added.
Rocky River Municipal Court records show a forgery charge with an offense date of Sept. 3 in the Metroparks jurisdiction.
