Man LifeFlighted after rollover crash overnight

An Oberlin man was LifeFlighted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a one-vehicle rollover accident overnight in New Russia Township, according to the Elyria post of the State Highway Patrol.

Timothy Roach was southbound on state Route 58 north of Russia Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to the patrol.

Roach’s pickup truck, a 1982 Ford F100, went off the right side of the road and struck a sign, a pole and a tree before coming back onto the road and rolling over onto its top.

The call came in at 1:43 a.m., according to the patrol.

Roach, who was alone in his truck, was taken by LifeCare to Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin and then was LifeFlighted to MetroHealth. He was listed in good condition this afternoon. The Highway Patrol didn’t have an age for Roach.

No charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, according to the patrol.
