Lorain homeless prevention program makes first payments for 16 needy families
LORAIN — Lorain’s Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program has made the first set of Lorain County Community Action Agency payments to landlords, utilities and other third parties to help 16 families.
HPRP helps Lorain residents get short- and medium-term rent assistance and other services to prevent them from becoming homeless. It also helps people who are homeless find a place quickly. Participants also get counseling and rental education, which includes budgeting, handling credit, safety, tenants’ rights and responsibilities and landlord relations.
Maximum income for eligibility is 50 percent of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s median income guidelines.
