LORAIN — Community Regional Medical Center will host its first H1N1 flu vaccine clinic this weekend.

More than 500 doses of the vaccine will be available 7 a.m. to noon Saturday in the atrium of the Medical Office Building located in front of the hospital campus.

The shots are free, but anyone wishing to receive vaccine for themselves or a child should preregister at https://h1n1vaccine.odh.ohio.gov.

The vaccine will be given on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone 6 months to 64 years old. Doctor’s orders must be provided for children 6 months to 17 years old, according to Jennifer Kennedy, hospital spokeswoman. A second dose of the H1N1 vaccine is strongly suggested within a month for children 6 months to 9 years old.

It has not yet been decided whether the hospital will offer additional H1N1 vaccine clinics.

“We’ll let the demand determine whether we have future ones or not,” Kennedy said.

Saturday’s clinic will focus exclusively on the H1N1 flu virus, according to Kennedy.

Anyone who preregisters for the vaccine is asked to bring the printed registration form Saturday. Those who do not sign up ahead of time — or who lack access to e-mail or a computer — will be able to register at the clinic.
