SHEFFIELD TWP. — The voting has already begun on whether Elyria Mayor Bill Grace will keep his job.
Although a special election on whether Grace should be recalled is scheduled for Dec. 22, Lorain County Board of Elections Director Jose Candelario said early voting began Thursday and 14 voters cast ballots.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, and Candelario said the elections board’s North Ridge Road office will remain open until 9 p.m. that day to accommodate that.
The election is expected to cost the city between $36,000 and $52,000. If Grace is recalled, Safety Service Director Chris Eichenlaub would be first in line to become mayor.

Lovin Life -
I really thought it was you gone totally bonkers posting there for a bit till I caught it was a different name.
Yes - unfortunately, LE has a certain Chris ring to it now so I am starting to agree with Dirt Digger and SB (though it does pain my arthritic joints to admit) that this one might in fact be Mr. Sito.
LE - if your Chris - why were you banned? I was almost banned for my brownies - someone turned me in for that one! Jeez…..
Can not believe Turkey day around the corner. Everyone have someplace to go for this holiday? Hope so.

Oh,
It’s like “Loving Elyria” not “Luv-in-Elyria”?
I thought we had a call-girl as a new poster.
So, Chris (everyone is stupid) Sito is gone?
Darn, we need another pompous know-it-all.

Folks,
The best way to eliminate a problematic person is simply to IGNORE them. They want attention. If you don’t give them any, you take away their forum for their rants. It’s that easy. Don’t waste your time & emotions on them. I’m sure each and every one of you have POSITIVE recommendations. Let’s hear those. Every time you respond to a person that simply wants attention, you satisfy them and initiate another round of their wrath. That’s WHAT THEY NEED. Just don’t give them a mental “FIX”.
Let’s hear some good ideas…just dump those ideas out here. There is no dumb idea, or question, as we all know. Personally, & I’m sure most folks agree, do not worry about your spelling, grammar, or any other insignificant thing like that!

OK, I ‘ll start the ball rolling. This would obviously need to be approved via Legal Council, The City Council, and others as appropriate. This may sound “dumb” at first but, it’s just an idea.
We are all taxed specifically when we purchase Gas, Cigarettes, Alcohol. We’re not violating any laws however, we are taxed anyway.
How about The City of Elyria define a list of crimes and add a specific “additional” fine for “City Services”. For example we could add a $20 fine for any traffic violation (because those put innocent people at risk). Maybe $5 for a parking ticket. Like $100-200 for a DWI. You can simply base the fine on the “time city safety forces are required for the crime”. It does not have to be complicated. Or, we could add a Percentage to all crimes, like an additional 15% of the total fines for the crime. Lets let those who violate the laws Pay for It!

Jeff, I dont’ think that sounds dumb at all. I’m all for out of the box thinking. I’ve watched that Parking Wars show on A&E and have often wondered if it’s financially feasible to install parking meters for all downtown parking and generate some extra revenue that way. Again, I don’t know if it’s doable or cost effective, but maybe it would be worth it to look into.

Reduce our over-head/liability by turning over Cascade to the Metro-parks.

I think that’s a really smart idea, Delyrian. We could still enjoy it, seems like a win-win situtation to me.

I dont like the idea of raising fines , it just gives the police more incentive to write tickets and such , and dont think the mayor wouldnt use that against us. I would much rather the police be out fighting Quality of Life stuff like busting and shutting down crack houses , prostitution and getting guns off the streets , they need to be more proactive rather than reactive.

How about stoping all city workers from taking vehicles home if you DO NOT live in the city…

Remind all your friends and relatives that they don’t have to wait until Dec. 22 to vote NO. They can go up to the Board of Elections Mon-Fri to vote instead of waiting.
