EMH named in top 100 in cardiovascular care

EMH Regional Medical Center has been named named one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular care as determined by Thomson Reuters.

The annual study looked at several cardiovascular benchmarks and examined the performance of 971 hospitals across the country in how well they reach those benchmarks.

This is the third time that EMH has been recognized.

“To be recognized as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the nation for cardiovascular care is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Donald Sheldon, president and CEO of EMH Regional Healthcare System. “The award reaffirms that we are not only providing excellent cardiovascular care to our patients, but we are doing so in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”

The 2009 winners were announced in the November issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.

After fire destroyed the block it was on, the lodge purchased a house and the land on which the current building stands in 1909.
