Why does the media throw the numbers out? when you know that they are not true numbers. Elyria has over 55,000 people withonly .29,000 working. More than half do not work. Who numbers are more believable? both their and mine because we look at them in two different ways, only adding what we want to add, to come up with what we believe to be real numbers. Funny how numbers work.

And the Dufas Mayor wanted a tax increase when no one has a job … 25% of the people working supporting the other 75%

If you want to get involved in the discussion it would be wise to inform yourself prior to commenting, rather than ripping the media for “bias”. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an unemployed person is someone who is involuntarily unemployed, which is to say they are jobless, looking for jobs, and available for work.

Your statement assumes that people not in the labor force should be factored into the calculation, which they should not. Think about it - why should retirees and infants be considered unemployed? That’s ludicrous.

  5. Thank you for correcting this 38 years.

I want to share some information for those who have questions about the unemployment situation. The unemployment situation is bad, but it has nothing to do with Obama. Many businesses are ready to hire people. However, in order for a job to be created, there needs to be a demand for a good or a service. Demand is down because consumer confidence is down. This is because of exactly what the Chronicle is reporting here about unemployment going up. People get discouraged and anxiety increases. We need to remain positive and optimistic. We need to emphasize the community.

Also, jobs are being created, but not at a pace to keep up with population growth. Ohio and Lorain County could do a better job at being competitve with other states to attract jobs.

38 years your completely wrong. Everyday I tell my 4 month old that she needs to go out and get a job, that her free ride is over. You have to show tough love on kids these days or they’ll never get a job and move out on their own.
